Presents a systematic procedure for reviewing a basic nursing curriculum, identifying needed changes, and developing and implementing a plan for change. The book also examines techniques used to evaluate the plan and to determine the relevance of the revised curriculum to community health needs. Following an explanation of ways in which primary health care relates to community nursing, the book explains four phases of curriculum review and development. These include the identification of the key attributes of community-oriented nursing, an analysis of the school curriculum and current programme objectives, the initiation of policy changes, and implementation of planned changes through the application of learning experiences and the use of mechanisms for course evaluation. |
