Following a description of the research design, instruments, and survey methodology, the authors describe findings for each of the four countries on the demographic profile of the aged, their physical health and functional ability, mental health, use of health services, living conditions, and social participation. The significance of these findings is further extended through a comparison of selected results with those from a previous European study.
