Updates world knowledge on procedures of animal and food hygiene necessary to control salmonellosis and prevent its transmission to man. Prepared by experts in livestock development, zoonoses control, and food hygiene, the report considers both the general risks to public health posed by infected animals and their wastes and the specific precautions in the primary production and processing of raw food needed to reduce the incidence of infection and food contamination. Throughout the report, an effort is made to unite the interests of food producers, particularly concerning the prevention of economic loss, with those of public health authorities confronted by the high risks of food-borne disease in man.
