En este libro se exponen varios principios orientadores sobre organización de hospitales de primer envío, su integración en un sistema basado en la atención primaria de salud y sus necesidades tecnológicas. El objetivo es ayudar a los gobiernos y a los órganos rectores de los hospitales a entender los múltiples factores que deben tenerse en cuenta al definir las funciones del hospital y organizar sus servicios. El informe está dividido en dos partes. La primera trata de las funciones del hospital en su distrito. Se presenta la integración del hospital de primer envío en el sistema sanitario del distrito, como la mejor manera de fortalecer la atención primaria y utilizar los recursos hospitalarios en beneficio de la salud. La segunda parte, la más extensa, constituye una guía práctica de las actividades internas del hospital. Se dan orientaciones sobre políticas se examinan las funciones de los servicios de asistencia clínica, laboratorio, imaginología de diagnóstico, farmacia, esterilización y dietética. Se recuerda también a los lectores la necesidad de un plan para el eficiente funcionamiento de los servicios públicos, los de mantenimiento y reparaciones, higiene hospitalaria, transporte, comidas, lavadero, depósitos y comunicaciones. |
