El objetivo de la reuniâon era hacer una sinopsis de los conocimientos existentes sobre la prevalencia del uso del tabaco sin humo y sus efectos nocivos para la salud, asâi como formular recomendaciones y proponer pautas para las estrategias que han de utilizar los gobiernos en la lucha contra el uso donde âeste ya existe y para prevenir que surja con detrimento de la salud donde todavâia no se ha difundido. El informe contiene sugerencias acerca del contenido y ejecuciâon de estrategias para combatir el uso del tabaco sin humo de acuerdo con las circunstancias especiales prevalecientes en el paâis en cuestiâon. En algunos lugares se necesitarâan programas de informaciâon pâublica de gran alcance, mientras que en otros habrâa que esforzarse por no estimular el interâes de los habitantes en un hâabito nuevo para ellos. Se discute la aplicaciâon de impuestos, la legislaciâon sobre la venta a los niänos y la importancia de desalentar la promociâon del tabaco sin humo. |
