A highly pragmatic collection of facts and advice designed to encourage the most effective use of barrier contraceptives and spermicides in family planning programmes. In view of the importance of condoms as a means of preventing HIV transmission, the book also features a section outlining basic facts about AIDS and suggesting ways that health workers can help stop spread of the disease by encouraging the correct use of condoms. Emphasis is placed on information that can help users select the most appropriate and acceptable method, use it correctly and safely, and know when to report any side-effects or symptoms.
