A problem-oriented manual designed to help planners achieve success in community water supply and sanitation projects in developing parts of the world. Based on local case studies conducted in nine South-East Asian countries, the book presents a six-step procedure for use in designing projects that are not only technically correct and feasible but accepted and used by the community. Throughout the manual, numerous cartoons serve to illustrate both key points from the text and the innovative way in which the manual attempts to reach the community in a language and style they can accept.
