A practical guide to the organization and delivery of natural family planning services. Intended for use by programme managers and administrators, the book offers guidance on the range of factors, including adequate information to users and the proper training of teachers, that can influence the acceptability and success of natural family planning methods. Readers are first introduced to the advantages and disadvantages of natural family planning compared with other methods of fertility regulation. A second chapter provides basic information about how the method works, concentrating on rhythm, cervical mucus, basal body temperature, and symptothermal methods. Other chapters discuss psychosocial aspects and explain the need for careful instructions to users and thorough training of teachers. The most extensive chapters concentrate on the planning, organization, delivery, and evaluation of services. The book concludes with a series of five annexes, including sample reporting forms, sources of further information and support, and a list of answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.
