An essential handbook for investigators wishing to undertake epidemiological studies of cardiovascular disease. Practical in its purpose, the book first provides a thorough explanation of principles of immediate concern to the design and planning of cardiovascular surveys. The second half of the book deals with clinical questionnaires on both cardiovascular and respiratory symptoms, and other standard methods which are particularly relevant to ischaemic heart disease and chronic lung disease. Since the first edition appeared in 1968, the book has contributed significantly to the standardization of methodologies throughout the world. The book has also been used as the basis for preparing protocols and manuals for different studies and as a textbook for teaching and training courses.
