Le principal objectif du Règlement sanitaire international consiste à assurer le maximum de sécurité contre la propagation internationale de certaines maladies transmissibles, moyennant le minimum d'entraves au trafic mondial. Cette troisième édition contient essentiellement la version adoptée par l'Assemblée mondiale de la Santé en 1969, telle qu'elle a été modifiée par l'Assemblée en 1973 en ce qui concerne les dispositions relatives au choléra, et en 1981 pour l'éradication de la variole. Outre le Règlement lui-même, ce volume contient le texte des réserves formulées à l'encontre du Règlement ainsi que diverses annexes, notamment les obligations des administrations sanitaires, une note sur le service OMS d'informations épidémiologiques pour les Etats Membres et les normes d'hygiène à bord des navires et aéronefs. |
